Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time again. It is time for another edition of the Wonderpod highlight reel. This time around I have two episodes for your viewing and listening pleasure. In case you have been out of the picture as of late, the big news going around the world of X-box 360 is, of course, the Halo Reach beta. And you just know that PatMan had to have his dirty hands on this little work in progress. However, unlike some of the people out on the internet, I will not be giving a “review” for the beta, and as I have discussed on Wonderpod, its absolutely idiotic for anyone to actually attempt this. It’s a beta, that’s it. A work in progress, a few levels of unfinished code that we get to test for Microsoft. It’s by no means the finished product as there is no single player, no co-op, no forge mode and only a few maps of beta code. It is, however, a very good “work in progress” , I will give it that. I have had hardly any issues with the beta and it looks like the final build will be great fun when it comes out. Please download the latest Wonderpod for more of my impressions on the Halo reach beta, along with thoughts from Gunsage and Bruce on a buffet of game topics this week. Originating on Microsoft’s first console and really as no more than a place to download old arcade classics, X-box Live Arcade has now truly evolved into a complete gaming experience all of its own, second to none in terms of quality, quantity and affordability. Nowhere else can a console gamer have such a large variety of new HD games, old arcade classics and past console favorites to download and enjoy. And at a fraction of the cost of a full retail title, X-box Live Arcade games can very often be absolutely great gaming experiences. On a recent episode of our very own video game Podcast “Wonderpod” we briefly discussed some of the best downloadable games of the year, and that gave me the idea to create my own list. Thus, with no further ado, I give you “Pat Man’s top X-box live arcade titles.”

1 Vs 100 on X-box LIVE was a huge surprise hit last year for Microsoft, with tens upon tens of thousands of people logged into the game,all playing along with their avatars and hoping to be chosen to be in “the mob”, or perhaps to even be the elusive character known simply as ” the one”. But really, as far as the game play experience went, it didn’t really matter if you were chosen to be in the mob or not, and honestly the games that did not feature the live host or even the prizes were just as fun as the ones that did feature them. Last season, I was making my avatar dance like a fool in the lobby, playing while my wife sat on the couch and “helped out”, and partying up with friends from around the world. Season 1 of 1 VS 100 was not only fun, it was simple and most importantly, it was free for all who have Gold membership.
With season 2 of 1 Vs 100 on X-Box LIVE quickly approaching, I have had the opportunity to give the new and improved game a test drive in the last few weeks. And I found a few changes to go along with the already fun experience from last season.
